About Us
"Tamil Nadu Karuneegar Sangam" entering its fourth decade of service to the elite community of Karuneegars is stepping into the digital platform to reach its members globally. The sangam is functioning from its secretariat at 11/7, Sundaram Street, Purasaiwakkam, Chennai - 600007 in its own premises from 2010 onwards. With untiring efforts of Late Sri. K.S.Gowrishankar the Tamil Nadu Karuneegar Sangam was founded in the year 1981.
From then on under the able leadership of various Presidents the sangam has now grown with a membership of more than 3000 Life Members and having 29 branches across Tamil Nadu. The sangam is now headed by Sri. G.Bakthavatsalam and his team of Office bearers.
Mission
- Providing educational aid / scholarships to the wards of socially backward people belonging to karuneegar community.
- Create platform for Matrimonial services in arranging suitable Brides and Grooms for the Karuneegar community.
- Provide Career guidance and guest lectures through distinguished scholars for the betterment of the community students.
- Open aided educational institutions especially for Karuneegar Community.
Activities
- The sangam is actively interacting with its members through an in-house monthly magazine "Karuneegar Nal vazhvu" in Tamil carrying Sangam events, activities, educative articles and Matrimonial informations.
- Every year the sangam awards cash scholarship to the meritorious students of 10th and 12th standards of state board.
- "Bhavani Giri Rajan Award" and "Ramasamy Pillai Award" is being awarded to the meritorious students of the 12th standard.
- In association with Madambakkam Vasudeva Pillai Trust the sangam gives educational aids to the students (Std VI to PG Level ) of economically backward Karuneegar community.
- Conducts "Manamalai" - Matrimonial Programmes periodically through its branches and at head offices for the Karuneegar community.
- Successfully held six "State Conferences" in a grand manner thereby grabbing the Government's attention.
